When we got out floors done several months back, we had 3 boxes of wood left over. We decided it would be good to just carry the wood into the entryway, so we finally got around to doing it last weekend. There was previously ceramic tile in there (wish I had a real before picture). Well, when the guys took the tile out, oh my goodness, there was dust everywhere! They gave us no warning whatsoever about them havnig to use a grinder, so we went downstairs and there was dust EVERYWHERE--including covering our brand new couches!!!!! I spent all of Saturday night and Sunday cleaning from top to bottom! And one of the guys said he'd clean, which he did, but he used the Swiffer Wet pads on our floor and man....they made such a greasy mess! I can't get the grease to come up no matter how much I mop, so our floors look like total and utter POOP!!!! I'm very irritated! Anyway, though, the stupid entryway is finished....It looks good, which I'm glad about. As for the rest of my house--I still have cleaning to do! There is a bathroom right off the entryway and they left that door open while they were grinding...I have a deep red color on the walls in there and I'm just going to have to repaint completely. The walls are covered in dust and you can't just wipe it off. Argh...No one can do anything to my standards, but this was just ridiculous! Anyway....Oh, and that one piece on the step does need to be stained, but that's just going to have to happen another day and time. We're just happy to have that step finished. It was hard to know what to do with it because previously the carpet covered it and when we took it off, we were left with a cement step. It's much better this way, but we will eventually have to stain that little piece. Ah, gotta love home improvements!

Very pretty! Yeah I hear you about standards. I had a guy come fix the nail pops for the warranty work and it was a very similar situation with dry wall dust EVERYWHERE and YES it does not come off the floor easily. I even found clumps of spackel on my couches and carpet (he was in every room). When he came back the next day, I was a total biatch about it... ok, *deep breath*

Lookin' good! And the aholes who refinished our floors did the same thing...everything was completely covered in dust! Not cool! We bitched to the insurance and their company and ended up getting a few hundred dollars taken off our deductible.
