Problem: So, I am recently laid off (well, partially, whatever...), so I thought I'd work on losing those 20 pounds I want to lose before our reunion (by the way, I have a good idea for the invitations). I have been paying for a membership to Gold's Gym for about 2 years, but haven't gone for the past 1.5 years...nice for them, huh? So, since I have all this extra free time now, I decided I'd start hitting the gym again. They have a childcare center where Blake can play while I attend my class of choice and maybe hit the weights. Ok, so I walked into the center yesterday and told them Blake had never been there before. I filled out their required paperwork and went into the room....no one offered to show me around or told me what to do with my son. Ok, I am no exaggerating here...there were at least 25 children running around screaming (I saw two boys in the corner wrestling over the tv) with one, yes, I said one, teacher watching them all. I set Blake down for a minute and that one teacher came over and tried to take Blake out of my arms. He sort of shied away from her.....I practically had to rip him away from her, he didn't want to go to her yet. I get upset because people assume because they are babies, they dont' have feelings. I like to introduce him to people before he goes to them....wouldnt' anyone expect that level of respect? Anyway...she walked off and I decided I coulnd't leave him there, he would ahve been trampled and no one would have watched him. I went back to the front and told the lady I wanted my ID back because there were just too many kids. She then told me I could take Blake into the baby room. I walked in there and it was much calmer! There were two teachers and three babies--two tiny ones and one crawling. I felt better in there.....well, for a minute. No one really talked to me...they didn't introduce themselves, they didn't ask me blake's name or age, they pretty much acted disinterested in him. I felt like he would be ok in there, so I decided to go to my class (I feel really bad, I never should have left him there). I was gone like 50 minutes and he was fine when I picked him up, but in hindsight, I shouldn't have left him. Now I'm VERY upset that I am not able to go back...and this is a reputable gym, too, you would think they would have a decent childcare facility with enough teachers to handle the children. Oh, and when I picked him up, the girl handed me my ID when I first walked in, not when I walked out with my child. I could have grabbed any child for all she cared. I didn't feel like Blake was safe there. Anyone could have walked in and walked out with him and they never would have noticed.
Solution: I decided not to let this one go. I wrote a letter to their corporate office saying that I will be cancelling my membership and that I was horrorfied at the condition of their so-called childcare facility. That really didn't make me feel any better, so I went ahead and went up the ladder and reported them to the Texas Department of family and Protective Services!!!!!!!!!! I hope something is done about this. I've paid them all this money, now I'm not even able to safely attend the gym without having someone else watch blake, which means paying his current babysitter. Ugh...it sucks. I hope something bad happens to them.....
Oh, and the other night, before I went to bed, I said a little prayer that went like this
"Dear God, please let Blake sleep until 7:45. Amen."
Bryce and I had a little chuckle about that.....It was my day off the next day and I wanted just a little extra sleep (he's normally up around 7:15 on the weekends). So, what time did the monitor go off? It was 7:38! Maybe I should pray for a million dollars? I'm feeling lucky!!!!!

Oh my go Lisa and write about that. I can't believe how Blake was treated. I am glad you did something about it. Your pray was cute ;)
no body messes with my baby, damnit!!!!!
Awesome for reporting them! I can't believe they had 25 kids with one teacher! And the ID thing, can someone say LAWSUIT!?! I hope they write back to you as well to tell you what they're going to do about it. :)
Love the prayer! :)
Lisa, if your instinct tells you not to leave him, then follow it (like you did) because you'll never forgive yourself if something happens. That's why Vivian is not at the CDC and now with Bethany (by the way, it's working out great and I love her!). Sucks that you can't work out though! Did you take your tests yet? When do you start school?!
Did that sound right? I meant to say that you followed your instinct by not bringing him back and reporting them. I'm really tired and I can't read anymore!
I am not taking him there again, but I am keeping my membership and am workign out at night and on the weekend. The weather has cooled down lately, so we've been waking up and taking walks...yesterday I walked and worked out! Yay! 20 pounds, you've made yourself raterh comfortable on my hips, butt and thighs, but you're about to be eliminated!!!! You've overstayed your welcome!!!
